ICG International Congresses On Glass

Held every three years, the ICG Congresses are an important way of disseminating information on glass science and technology and provide valuable opportunities for glass scientists and technologists to meet. Since the late 1980s ICG Congresses have expanded significantly. They now attract 700 - 1000 attendees and up to 900 papers and posters. Their special features include:

  1. Invited lectures reviewing major achievements not only in the traditional fields of glass science and technology, but also on new glass applications such as optics, photonics, electronics, nanotechnology, coating technology, biotechnology, and composites
  2. and sessions organised by Technical Committees to review key aspects of their work.

Every three years ICG organises an International Congress on Glass. The XXV CONGRESS (2019) will be in Boston, USA. A list of previous Congress venues is given below.

ICG Annual Conferences and other events in the Glass Field

In the years between its Congresses ICG organises an Annual Conference. Although shorter than the Congresses, several Technical Committees will organise sessions based around their key activities and a full programme of papers will be presented.

The next ICG Conference is in Yokohama, Japan on 23-26th September 2018 at the Venue: PACIFICO Yokohama. Abstract Submission for the Meeting 2018 (ICG2018) opened on January 4 with a Submission Deadline for Abstracts of March 1, 2018.

ICG 2018 is organized by the Ceramics Society of Japan (CerSJ), and they have started preparing the meeting to welcome many glass researchers, engineers and related professionals from all over the world. ICG2018 presents as its main issue “Innovations in Glass and Glass Technologies: Contributions to a Sustainable Society” which is of great importance in the field of glass science and technology to protect the global environment. ICG 2018 is also managed in strong collaboration with the Glass Industry Conference of Japan (GIC).
