TC24: Coatings on Glass

Recent key technical objectives have included:

Agree  the technical committee's role in ongoing work in the Self Cleaning and Reduced Maintenance Areas, the key challenge being to establish the role of TC24 in the ongoing standardisation activities now being undertaken by CEN TC129.

Continue to develop technical understanding of transparent conductive oxide coatings through the use of round robin testing and new tests aimed at developing an understanding of the relationship between the properties of the films for difrerent technical applications.

Expand the interests of TC24 into new areas of interest and importance to coating development going forward.

Activities and plans

Activities during 2015 were limited and there was no formal new information to report. Based on the TCs past activities, while the technical area is important, it has been suggested by the membership that the TCs focus may require revision and reinvigoration within the upcoming year. This may also include revisiting the current leadership within the TC.

FUTURE ACTIVITIES

Discussions on future activity areas for TC24 remain in two key areas:

  • Failure mechanism investigation of TCOs in devices
  • Standard testing methodologies and performance criteria for antireflection coatings
