Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position in Lithium Battery Research

There is an immediate opening in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at Iowa State University in the Glass and Energy Materials Research Group for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The appointment is for three years with continuation funding dependent upon research progress on and funding for the project. Salary will be commensurate with experience, training and qualifications. Candidates interested in furthering this project by developing entrepreneurial efforts beyond the three years of the project such as technology transfer are especially encouraged to apply

The research project involves the development of new battery chemistries and designs for new lithium battery energy storage systems.

Successful candidates will have a Ph. D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry or a closely allied field and have a strong background in solid electrolyte development and characterization, especially glassy solid electrolytes, electrochemistry and battery design, development, and testing with special consideration given to those candidates who have extensive research experience in alkali metal based battery systems such as Lithium batteries.
